Second NatureWebsite: www.snwp.com Email: snwp@snwp.com Programs Description: Second Nature's treatment model focuses on two key areas: 1. The Student's Environment 2. The Student's internal processes Environment. The wilderness provides an environment free of negative external stimuli and influences, yet offers a richness of inherent lessons found only in the natural setting. Our program also offers a mirror to the family lifestyle with structure, boundaries, feedback, relationships and challenges. In these surroundings, a student is more capable of examining and changing their internal processes. Treatment. A student's treatment consists of: daily group therapy, individual weekly therapy, therapeutic assignments, and program requirement activities. Within this structure, students begin to examine past experiences, their behavior, their relationships, and the internal processes and coping strategies they use. They gain an understanding of how and why their lives have led them to Second Nature and how they can begin to make changes in the way they think and behave. The result is the creation of new positive feelings, relationships, and behaviors. Gender Issues. Second Nature utilizes single gender treatment teams, believing that it is developmentally appropriate for students who require intervention at this age to work on identity issues before dealing with intimacy issues, which are likely to arise in a co-ed situation. Our Therapists. Second Nature's primary therapists are doctorate level and have extensive training and experience, specializing in treatment and best practices commonly administered for at-risk adolescents. Therapists use cognitive, behavioral, experiential, and psychodynamic methods to produce positive change.
